“Barriers caused probs on the day of travel 30/1 and on return the barrier didnt open - the machine wanted to charge me £225 was kept waiting until a rep answered and was asked for my booking reference (in my case) then my reg number and was then allowed out - no apology surly guy. Both going in and then leaving, the experience was very poor.”
“Collected the car (registration T10HES) on Saturday evening 3rd February, put in ticket at the exit and we were then informed to pay £280, while we had already pre-booked. The situation was later on finally resolved.”
“I booked my parking online but when I exited from the car park it stated I owed £160. Really not happy with this as your claim of number plate recognition and inserting the ticket from the entry should make the exit run smoothly. I had cars lined up behind me and it was not obvious in the dark and drizzle if there was an intercom option to talk to an operator. When I finally did this the chap needed my booking reference which I didn't have to hand. He finally let me through but this was more stress than I needed after a busy trip abroad.”
“The cost of parking short stay is a disgrace especially when you charge a full day rate even if just over 24hrs by 5 minutes. I grudge every penny I have to give you”
“The parking spaces are very small meaning you are extremely close to other vehicles.
The barrier did not recognise my registration so it wanted to charge me £90, the buttons were not labelled on the machine so I had to press all of them to work out how to call for help - not sure why tickets are used in the first place.”
“Problems exiting car park despite pre payment. number plate not recognised and £280 demanded. Had to contact control and took a few minutes to sort out. Not acceptable.”
“Could not fault our arrival. However when leaving the car park and putting our ticket in machine at exit we were asked to pay £280 for parking although we had prepaid. Luckily I was able to retrieve booking reference and eventually speak to someone who allowed us to exit car park. Not what you need when wanting to get home after a long day travelling.”
“Having pre booked our car park, we got to the exit gate and we were stopped going through. Telling us we had a payment of £280 !!! Thankfully we had the paperwork with us and were able to give the reference number. The gate was then lifted , but I'm sure the people in the queue behind were not chuffed. This is the first time an incident like this has happened . Not impressed.”
“Directed to the overflow car park at the surface parking then when walking the extra long distance to the terminal though the surface car park noticed loads of empty car parking spaces in the main surface car park.”
“Well, for the second time in a few months, you get to the barrier, insert your ticket and it says you have an outstanding bill- then you have to ring the help guy, give your online booking reference and you are then let through.
Surely it’s not that difficult to organise it so that if you pre pay you can just get insert the ticket and go!!”
“Second time used Edinburgh car parks long stay
Both times my ticket has been rejected at the barrier on the way out.
I buzzed and gave my reference number through the intercom and got out no problem.
Its is very annoying however”
“The parking was great, happy with that and being able to walk to the airport and also the price is good but this is the second time I have used this service and twice I have struggled to get out of the car park. The machine again didn't recognise that I had prepaid and I had to call the assistant, meanwhile I have 10-15 cars queued up behind me. Sadly this puts a taint on my lovely weekends away. I very much doubt I will be using this service again.”
“Badly signposted as to which was the long stay. So I drove up to the barrier and pressed on the assistance button and was told I was at the long stay car park. Come back from holiday put my ticket in the exit barrier. It wants £350 which stresses me out. Fortunately the gentleman on the assistance machine at the barrier let me through after I gave my reference number . It turns out I'd parked in the short stay. I wouldn't have done so, but I was told it was the long stay car park.”
“entrance to covered parking very narrow. booked and paid in advance but on exit, machine tells me about every third time I owe more money. the latest was Tuesday 23rd January when I had to exit my vehicle in the pouring rain to get my booking details to prove I did not owe £814 26.”
“We used Mid Stay Car Park.
Pros:
Simple to book
Fairly close to Terminal
£14 a day not cheap but cheaper than other some car parks
Cons:
Open air so car exposed to elements.
Not convinced by the security.”
“I booked in advance for a half-day in Terminal Surface Parking and was disappointed when I arrived to discover I had paid above the advertised 'on the day' price. I had paid for the parking closest to the terminal to facilitate an easy journey (important to me as I was travelling for work whilst pregnant). However, it took over 15minutes to find a parking space in the Terminal Surface Car Park, in which time I may as well have parked in the long stay and caught the bus. Very disappointing.”
“Instructions for finding correct long stay car park are very poor.
No way of knowing which is airport approach road,so know way of knowing where to go.
Why not give each long stay park a number then put number on road signs.”
“The cost is extortionate! There is no pay station at the pick up area so you have to go towards the terminal. There are only two machines and if they are queued then there is little chance of being able to arrive, pay and leave within 14 minutes. Result, minimum charge of £7.00!”
“Despite having been there before I still managed to end up going into the car park beside the multi storey through an entrance marked for taxis. Better signage is needed.”
