“I have been using your Terminal Multi-Storey for a number of years now, on the last two occasions the signs have said there are parking spaces on the 1st and 2nd floors. On Wednesday 8th August- 12 on the 1st- there were none and 25 on the 2nd none! eventually we parked on the 4th having wasted a considerable time looking for spaces advertised when the were none. Very frustrating.”
“The long stay location is relatively close but the airport traffic was so busy the transfer bus was slow and stuck in traffic. Feels like the airport is too busy for the infrastructure.”
“I originally booked the now defunct valet parking but ended up using the multi storey instead. I did receive a refund in compensation for the change but I was not given any information on how or where to access the multi storey.”
“The parking is fine and usually works smoothly. Yesterday however, I collected my car from the terminal surface and put my ticket into the card reader at the barrier -as you do when you've prepaid. The display said please pay £130. Not funny. I pressed the intercom button and could hardly hear a word. The quality and sound of the operator was nearly zero. I worked out that he wanted my reference number. Took all but 10 minutes. A bit annoying.”
“The new Long Term Express is the closest thing to the old Valet service now on offer. It is much less convenient in every respect. Dropping off the car early in the morning involved waiting in a queue. A transfer bus is needed which can be crowded and lugging bags on and off does not suit everyone. Collecting the car involves hunting for a numbered bay which could be some distance from the kiosk. The only possible advantage is not having to locate a space on arrival, but otherwise, it is difficult to see what the point of it is. The discontinuance of valet parking is a real loss for those who don’t find using the bus with heavy luggage easy or who want a genuinely convenient way to park. At least with the valet service, you felt you were getting some sort of service for the not inconsiderable fee being charged. It may be that a taxi will be the answer next time.”
“Paid for terminal surface parking. No problem on entry but extremely busy and difficult to find a space, i would recommend factoring this in to your onwards journey.
Leaving the terminal surface parking area upon our return was a bit of a shambles, it seems that their are 3 exit barriers (actually 4 but 2 was not operational) that filter into 1 lane to exit, absolute chaos when busy and it was extremely busy on Sunday afternoon.”
“My only issue waa the camera on entrance took my registration wrongly to print on ticket.
As i was travelling alone it was quite nerving to find no one in the area for advice or any signs giving advice.”
“We were disappointed to see that the valet service we'd used previously was no longer a service that was available so we booked the Long Stay Express. Great service on arrival and handover of the car but we had a little bit of a wait for a bus.
Yesterday we had to queue for 35-40 minutes at the terminal to wait for the shuttle bus. We could see that there was heavy traffic but there only seemed to be one bus running - this is not an acceptable service. Handover at the car park was again excellent.
I think the airport infrastructure is letting your service down, as it was the getting to & from the car park that was the only issue”
“Car safe. Drop off was easy. However on our return there was a massive queue at Bus stop A and we waited 45 minutes for a bus to take us to the car park. The bus then took a very long time to get to the car park. Not sure why traffic was so chaotic but it made it a long time from bus stop to Jen car.”
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm sorry to hear that you were delayed on your return to the car park, the traffic can be quite heavy during the peak season but we hope to improve the access roads in the near future.
Thank you and kind regards,
“Finding the terminal surface parking areas was fairly straight forward - reasonably good signage. The car park was very busy. Parking spaces were very small and tight to access. Would have been useful to have some support in identifying areas that are full and have spaces as you spent time circling the car park. Other airports I have been at have placed closed/full signs to avoid you wasting time looking for a space.”
“The valet area was closed down, it took 20 minutes to find a space then a 10 minute walk with cases, we paid for valet service we liked before not great value.”
“Terminal Surface Car Park very convenient to use although expensive, easy enough to find parking space and
approx 3 minute walk to terminal. Parking spaces do seem relatively tight width-wise compared to other car parks .... had to move car out from parking space on return to allow family to get into car.”
“Parking was good staff were friendly and helpful. Bus pick up when arriving back was to far away from arrivals no signs to help locate the bus, then driven through car park and only after missing some stops did he mention drop off points , bit confusing as to what stop to get off this could be better.”
“It’s expensive and access is not great to the car parks with queues on the access road and delays trying to get out. The real advantage is access to the terminal through the fast track bridge but that is pretty meaningless when the fast track line is full of aircrew, cabin crew and non fast track passengers that are put the by the Edinburgh Airprot hosts. The multi story car park itself is clean and well lit with good size spaces.
All airports are money making machines and Edinburgh is no exception but the balance here has tipped into exploitation of passengers!”
