“Finding the airport parking was straightforward, and parking was easy. However, on collecting our car we were shocked/annoyed to be stopped from leaving the carpark with a message that we had to pay extra to exit (£242 extra!) - we had pre-paid 10 days parking, with a "free" upgrade.
We had difficulty finding the intercom, at the exit barrier, to speak to an advisor ( it was after midnight, and there wasnt sufficient lighting at the exit barrier) - which was frustrating. Once we spoke to the advisor, we were helped to exit the carpark.”
“I like the proximity to the terminal and included fastrack, but signage to and from the terminal is poor and, although I'd prepaid, the barrier initially tried to charge me for my stay until the telecom assistant let me out manually.”
“Long walk to terminal. Car park full of puddles. Pre booked but didn't register at exit, had to speak to attendant to resolve causing queue at barrier but got resolved.”
“First time using Fast Park. Arrival was all good. Leaving was a bit more complicated and there was also an additional £4 charge at the gate. Will stick to multi-storey in future.”
“I have used Edinburgh Airport Parking many times over many years. For the most part, pre-booking, especially long-stay with bus shuttle is very good. However, my most recent experience was less than pleasant!
I pre-booked and pre-paid mid-stay for 3 days. Not too bad on arrival and found a vacant space and walked the 2 minutes to the terminal. On return, it was raining - torrential Scottish rain. The walking route was mostly exposed to the rain/wind. I attempted to leave the car park, inserted the ticket, which was declined and I was invited to pay £110.00 excess!! I attempted to find the office - not in Mid-Stay car park.. I returned to the exit and was finally released by the 'intercom-guy'. Iwas annoyed, cold, wet and now about to meet the Forth Bridge rush-hour - Not happy.”
“Not enough parking especially close to the airport. Road infrastructure needs sorted as when it's been raining you have to walk through some very deep puddles.
When we went to depart the car park after travelling for nearly 24 hrs the barriers wouldn't lift and said we had overstayed by nearly £200.
I had paid upfront for the week we were away.
Something you don't need when you're exhausted.”
“Multi storey is excellent and I've used it before although this time I booked on line, did my trip and on my return put my ticket in the machine to find I had a charge of 180 GBP's. When I tried to find a number to call to speak to someone I couldnt and had to send an email and wait for someone to get back to me (I'm still waiting). I really think this is unacceptable in that I should be able to call someone and have the issue addressed immediately instead I've got 180 GBP on my mastercard that shouldnt be there”
“Paid online when booking midstay. Arrived and got my ticket going in to the car park. When leaving, I entered my ticket to see it said £130 to pay! Had to call for assistance to be let out”
“I park at the airport nearly every week. The car park is always in good condition and the staff are exceptionally helpful. However for the last few months every time, I park the automatic numberplate recognition doesn't recognise my booking. When I call on exit the situation always gets resolved but I think the system should work first time.”
“It is extremely disappointing that there is no shuttle bus from the long stay car park. This really is unacceptable. The alternative plane parking, which I have used in the past, was also not available. I really don't know how anyone with any kind of restrictive mobility and luggage can manage, other than paying considerably more to park closer to the terminal. I was also blocked on exit for the second time in a row, despite paying in advance.”
“CAR PARK WAS FINE UNTIL I TRIED TO LEAVE WHEN I PUT MY TICKET IN THE MACHINE IT SAID I HAD £140 OUTSTANDING BILL, SPOKE TO THE GENTLEMAN ON OTHER END OF THE CALL BUTTON WHO WIPED IT WITHOUT EXPLANATION. WASNT BEST PLEASED THAT IT TRIED TO RIP ME OFF IN THE FIRST PLACE THOUGH”
“Pre Paid for parking in the Multi-Story car park and then tried to exit but was told that I had to pay again. This was rectified when I contact somebody via the intercom system, however, this is not the first time that it has happened. My work colleague had the same thing happen to her the week before.”
“Check in smooth, easy. Check out not so easy. There is no ticket to insert into barrier machine, called for help, and the barrier could not be raised. Eventually had to reverse into the queue, only to get to the front of the queue and call for help again, which took some time as other drivers had gone to the barrier that I had gone to first, and since they couldn't get out my call for help was not answered, presumably because whoever was at the other end was helping others. Not good. Apparently this has been a known issue for some time. Not ideal if you pay for Fast Track and it's only fast on the way in. Not worth the extra money.”
“Easy to find and a short walk from the terminal. When leaving there seemed to be a technical glitch where it tried to charge me £175 for my parking which I'd booked for £35. Pressed the button to talk to someone at the exit gate and it was sorted within a minute.”
“We use this car park all the time (long stay) usually without any problems but this time we were a bit disappointed. With recent heavy rain, large parts of G’s walkway were flooded so getting back to the car from the terminal was difficult to avoid the puddles and it was also poorly lit. Also, on this occasion, the machine didn’t recognise my pre-booking and wanted to charge £95, which wasted time having to call for help. This was resolved after a few minutes, however, and we were on our way. The spaces are nice and wide.”
“It would be helpful if the return to the Terminal Parking was better signed from inside the terminal to reach the Parking with better use of the rain cover shelter by signs indicating the alphabetical lines of parking reached from the rain cover.”
