“The new Long Stay Express Parking is potentially a good, cost effective service, but it is let down by Edinburgh Airport shuttle buses not providing any information to passengers returning to get their car as to which bus stop to alight at. This causes confusion, particularly late at night, for families and older passengers who are anxious to get to their car. A simple solution would be for the bus driver to announce the bus stop for the Long Stay Express Car Park, or to number the stops and provide more information on the bus for passengers.”
“Great when we arrived, met by one of the attendants who directed us to the available parking. However on Friday on our return, the large queue meant we couldn’t get on the first bus and had to wait around 25 - 30 minutes on the next bus! It’s meant to be every 7 minutes. We left the terminal at just after 2 and didn’t get to our car until 3. We could have walked it in 10 minutes but 2 irate tired grandchildren meant we had to wait. Then we were expected to pay another £5....”
“I booked the parking online for several days. My return flight was cancelled so that I finally made it back to EDI 13 hours late. Machine demanded £38 extra so I went to the site office to explain the circumstances. They were sympathetic but said couldn't deal with it and I had to drive to the barrier and press the button to speak with someone there. I did so, the person at the other end of the button said they charged the "roll-up" rate in such cases and there was nothing he could do to release this. I gave up, reversed out again, went to the machine and coughed up £38. This was a poor experience in several ways: (1) an unreasonably high charge for lateness in circumstances which were demonstrably not my fault (2) failure to provide an option for discussing it in a more sensible way than going to the barrier. When a similar issue arose for me at another parking place near EDI, these two problems did not apply.”
“I paid online in advance for my parking and parked satisfactorily on the terminal surface park. When I came to pick up my car, it asked for my parking ticket which I did not remember being given as entry was on number recognition. I found it but it didn't work, the attendant on the phone did not recognise the number and it said I needed to pay £385. Eventually the attendant let me out having seen from my numberplate I had paid. Exit as well as entry should be on numberplate recognition”
“Used the new long stay express service. Good service on checking in. However very poor customer service on return. Bus slow at arrivals to pick us and others up. 10 min wait. Driver very grumpy and unhelpful when asked for information about number of bus stop to get off for car collection. Reception staff could not be bothered with us. Having had the car videod on arrival it is difficult to check all ok at 2am. The following morning found a dent from someone’s door. Will not use service again.”
“Poorly signposted, makes arriving confusing. Worst part was the 30 minutes wait when returning. After a delayed flight this is the last thing you need.”
“It’s a rip off. Our flight was delayed and we got charged extra 4 pounds. Some flexibility would be recommended. You made such a bad impression on us.”
“I’ve given it a 2 out of 5. The main reason is the delay we had upon arriving at the express parking. We had to queue in a lane which seemed ok as it was just beyond the entrance barrier. However it took about 30 minutes before the attendant got to our car. It would of been quicker if I had just found a normal parking space.
Picking up the car was ok without any delay and I found the parking bay system works great. You really need to re assess the Express parking upon arrival. The reason I chose to use it was in the name Express but unfortunately it was far from that.”
“limited diabled parking - and removal of valet parking to offsite further makes disabled access to Edinburgh Airport difficult increasing transfer times”
“Booked mult car park for trip in June and was pretty good. However, Booked surface car park for trip 5/7 - 15/7 and was pretty awful. on departure date as we had to drive around one way system for 25 minutes and not a space to be had. Fortunately we were early and eventually a driver returned to their vehicle and we managed to 'shoehorn ' our car into the space between 2 badly parked cars. On our arrival back to Edinburgh the exit barrier systemwas a disaster... Cars from the 3 barriers plus cars and buses joining roundabout resulted in total log jammed trying to exit car park onto road.”
“Booked long stay express however it was anything but! Waited in a queue of cars for over 30mins to get checked in, actually watched four other cars come in the long stay, get parked and on the shuttle bus whilst we were waiting! Also the layout of the express section is poor, cars waiting to check-in are forced to queue across a lane in the car park effectively blocking it, 2 of the aforementioned 4 cars that came in to the standard long stay after us choose to drive up the lane we and another car were blocking, there was no need for them to do so however laying out the parking with clear demarcation between long stay and long stay express would help. Collection was much better however you're not typically as pressed for time coming back as when departing, they need to sort out the check-in process. Lastly, whomever parked my car adjusted the seat and left it way out from where it was (height and reach, both seat and steering wheel) personally drives me nuts! I won't be using the long stay express again.”
“The pre-paid parking is actually very useful, but on multiple occassions there are no spaces left in the carpark that is pre-paid. I prepay for ease of access and to save time, so driving about for 30 mins trying to locate a space isn't acceptable.”
“i arrived from fuerteventura with 3 young children at 00:30 hrs and tried to exit the car park around 01:30. I couldn’t exit the car park and pressed the buzzer on the card reader many times with no answer . Eventually I had to follow the car in front very closely to leave the car park.”
“Very harsh speed bumps leading to car park area, somewhat over the top I'd say. The bus from Long Stay drives you past the terminal and then part way back to where you started so you still have to walk down the tunnel past the stench and filth of the smoking area that was littered with all sorts of mess.
Plus it is like everything else at EDI, the price is absolute piracy.”
“There were two men on the bus on our return journey from the airport and we tried to communicate with one of them to confirm we were at the right bus
The driver muttered under his breath and was not very friendly then when we treid to get out of the car park it would not allow us to leave and it came up on the screen that we were owe you nearly £300 which nearly gave us a heart attack however this was sorted out and we were not owe you anything but what a stressful unpleasant end to a lovely holiday
We are used to using companies such as the flying Scott and they are very polite helpful chatty and it’s usually a seamless experience so your service would benefit from some changes as other travellers we met on the bus were of the same view”
“The last two times I have used Edinburgh airport Long Stay or Mid stay carparks the roads were closed and have been diverted to the Terminal surface carpark. I was quite happy to park at the terminal but was stressed out due to the congestion in getting there. The roads serving the airport at not up to it.”
