“£30 for 6 hours parking, seems a bit stiff to me. . The rate per day is now the rate per hour. Very smooth system but never leaves you feeling that it is fair value.”
“Dear oh dear...
If you are used to airport car parks throughout the UK having a unique post code, beware!!!
We were taken by sat nav to the dark side of the runway about four road miles away from the car park...
When I phoned after parking in the wrong place and running to catch my flight they were superb and sorted it out...
But you need to sort this out...
Each car park should have a unique post code”
“Massive queues in and out of the long stay car park. That means you have to queue to get it, the bus queues to get to the terminal and back and you have to queue to get out. This seems completely crazy when you look at the geography of the site - the back of the car park is right next to the terminal.”
“We arrived at the air bridge just after 0410 only to find it still closed. We waited a few minutes at the door on the terminal side but no one appeared so we had to get down to the terminal entrance and then walk round to get to the fast track entrance. When I asked about the air bridge the chap at the desk said they had just sent someone to open it which was no help to me.”
“Opted for the surface parking as it’s a short walk from the terminal, booked in advance so when we returned at 2am we could quickly get away but on exit the system did not know I had already paid so involved reversing back and going to the help desk who sorted it reasonably quick, but still not the quick get away we hoped for”
“I paid £109.99 to park from 20/7/18 to 31/7 18. The time of return was input as 2.00 am. My flight was delayed by over 2 hours so I did not return to the car park until just after 4.00 am. Put ticket in to exit car park & was disgusted to be asked for another £4.00. I paid a lot for terminal parking & the time window given seems very tight given that flights are delayed all the time. If I had input 4.00 am as my return time would I have been charged more than £109.99. I don't think so!. Will use off site parking from now on”
“Was very disappointed this time, on entry the machine misread my number plate, not that I noticed till departure. I sat at departure unable to get out and the machine demanding another £115. I pressed the help button but could not hear a word from the person at the other end. By this time, there was a queue of irate drivers behind me wanting out. I had to walk to the main kiosk, use the help button there where I could hear, then back again to the exit - whole experience was terrible and for the cost, unacceptable”
“The system didn't recognise my car's number plate when I entered the car park. So when I wanted to leave the car park two weeks later, at the barrier, I was asked to pay some £300. When I explained via the intercom that I had already prepaid, I was allowed to leave the car park without further payment, but the person I talked to wasn't particularly friendly, nor did he apologise. He asked me for my booking reference, but in the car, in the dark, I had no access to that. I gave him my car's registration. He didn't seem very happy with that.”
“Good parking close to airport terminal, but for god;s sake do not get hurt and miss your flight home. Was three days late and charged a penalty of £140 - shower of robbing c**ts”
“I thought it was excellent but unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances I returned for my car one day, it was due to be there for a fortnight. I asked at the time if a refund was possible, the lady was very helpful and sent an email to her boss, but her boss never had the good manners to reply to me even if the answer was to be no”
“I pre-booked parking in the Surface a car Park which was full on arrival but I was signposted to another. A ticket was issued. On return, I inserted the ticket and the machine said that I owed £155 parking charges. On pressing the button, the chap sorted it out, but it came as a huge shock.”
“Frustrating!!! The last 3 times I’ve used this service, I get to the barrier on the way out to be told I owe £56! This time I booked an extra 24 hours so returned 1 day early and got the same message. This results on a delay at the barrier while it gets sorted. The response this timr was that I should got to the parking office and have ticket validated!! The point of paying online in advance is to avoid this. Sort this out please!!!”
“The proximity of the car park to the terminal building meant that our journey was hassle free. However, upon exiting the car park at 1am and inserting my ticket, I was asked to pay £560!! After a lengthy wait, a large queue of traffic behind us (meaning that we couldn't reverse) and no communication, the barrier finally went up and the screen indicated that the transaction had been cancelled. I can only imagine that there was a systems glitch, but at 1am with two tired children in tow, it was far from ideal.”
“Have used Edinburgh on many occasions for parking. On this visit I was extremely disappointed, as when we arrived at the normal car park we park in there was a sign saying full to use car park R and S, by the time we got parked in R we where the furthest away from the airport that we could be with 2 very heavy cases and 2 carry ons. This is not what we paid for, more annoyinly there were loads of parking in the one that was closed I’m guessing someone just forgot to take the sign down. Least to say I was very very disappointed with Edinburgh Airports parking on this occasion. Yours John Carlin, 07968946439”
“Whilst getting in and parking was easy enough. The exit was so poor the machine didn't recognise my ticket (that had my registration number on it) and wanted £170 to exit!
Whilst the guy I spoke to was very helpful and sorted it out this is the second time this has happened. Just frustrating that you book and the system lets you down.”
“Sadly, introduction of the stop at the Hilton doubletree hotel has hugely increased the transit time to the long stay car park. I used to like this service very much for the frequent rapid transits, but the transit both ways was twice the usual time on both occasions I have parked there recently. The Hilton diversion is not fit for purpose (too small, often blocked) and disproportionately time wasting. I heard others complaining about this also. A shame to spoil a good service.”
“It is not easy to find the surface terminal parking, it is not well signposted for people who do not know the airport. The online booking system is not very friendly if you need to amend your parking dates. I had to cancel my original booking, then create a new booking then contact customer services to get a refund for the original booking. Then at the exit barrier the machine said I was due £ 385.00. Not a very pleasant experience.”
“The new Long Stay Express Parking is potentially a good, cost effective service, but it is let down by Edinburgh Airport shuttle buses not providing any information to passengers returning to get their car as to which bus stop to alight at. This causes confusion, particularly late at night, for families and older passengers who are anxious to get to their car. A simple solution would be for the bus driver to announce the bus stop for the Long Stay Express Car Park, or to number the stops and provide more information on the bus for passengers.”
