“The vehicle recognition system did not work and in fact has only worked once for me necessitating a conversation and delay at the exit gate.
Your bus transfer which is normally very good was also poor. I arrived opposite the bus stand as a bus was pulling out. There was another one waiting and it moved onto the bus stop and in the time the lights took to go to green to cross the road to the bus stand the driver left again - 2.20 pm without any passengers. The same driver returned some 15 minutes later and collected waiting passengers. He deposited some at the hotel then went into long stay car park and did not stop or slow down until bus stop 3 and I therefore had to walk back to bus stop 1 where my car was parked.”
“I pre-booked Plane park but on arrival discovered the ticket machine jammed so I had to get help to open the barrier & did not get a ticket for our return.
On return I once more had to get help as I had no ticket.
I am unlikely to use again.”
“We booked a space well in advance & it was so busy we had 20 minutes to find a space which was not good when you feel you have pre paid & booked for an easier parking up ! So there is not enough designated spaces for booked parking we are very disappointed & eventually got a space in the periphery parking spaces !”
“Absolutely disgusted with the greed of Edinburgh Airport Parking. I have no complaints about the access to the parking area and the parking area itself, although there could be better walkway to the airport for pushing heavy trolleys, baby prams etc. My complaint is about pricing. I paid £48.99 for parking from 08:30 on 28 Feb to 21:00 on 9 March (a total of 228 hours and 30 mins, which makes the parking rate a little over 20 pence an hour). Now, that's a very reasonable and fair fee, considering you are simply parking your car in an open field, which has a barricaded entry and exit. My arrival time on 9 March was 18:55. It usually takes about 30 to 45 mins to navigate your way out of Edinburgh airport after arriving in a domestic flight. I decided to pay for some extra parking time (of about an hour to an hour and half) in case the flight was a bit late. As it turned out, our first flight was late, which meant we missed the connecting flight from London, and BA then put us on a late night flight. This led to us arriving in Edinburgh around 23:00 and overstaying in the parking area for more than two and half hours. Now I am sure this happens all the time, as delayed flights are not an uncommon thing. I was shocked to find out that I had to pay £8.60 for overstaying my parking by just over two and half hours. You could park in Edinburgh city centre for that rate. It makes a complete mockery of people paying well in advance for parking at reasonable rates. I wish Edinburgh Airport parking would see sense and stop fleecing helpless passengers in this manner and bring some sense to their pricing structure for overstaying, especially when the overstaying is completely out of passenger's control.”
“We had previously used the service with no problem.
But this time got a very nasty surprise when arriving at the barrier to find we were going to be charged £!000 + for our parking that we already pre-booked.
This was resolved after talking to customer services via the intercom. Still came as quite a shock and caused embarrassment as a queue of cars containing frustrated drivers then formed behind us.”
“The parking itself was fine, however my flight was delayed for 3 hours at the other side. I tried to call the office but there was never anyone there. When i did eventually land and drove to the barrier i was charged an extra £8.40, despite having already paid £32 for 24 hours. Given the delay was not my fault there should be some way of monitoring flights to stop this happening.”
“Entry to the car park was very slow and a queue had formed at the entrance. This seemed to be because each car, including my own, seemed to take around 30 seconds to 1 minute to be processed by the barrier ticket machine. Faster access is desirable as unpredicted delay can have an impact on travel plans when time is tight and the uncertainty it introduces creates stress.
Exit from the multi-story car park was equally problematic. The machine took my ticket, which was pre-booked in advance, and the barrier did not open. I had to communicate with car park staff via the barrier intercom, who then wanted to know booking details that were not easily to hand. I don't know why this occurred but clearly the system does not work very well.”
“After holiday waited ten to 15 minutes at stance 10 for long stay bus got to no3 bus stop after pressing bell 3 cases to take off doors opened when got to bus door they closed and the bus started to move I shouted at the driver to stop and let me out which he done all I can say it's a poor service no more long stay for me in the future
J lees”
“I paid £24.99 for a weeks parking on the tarmac and unfortunately put my return as 07.30 instead of of 19.30. 12 hours out and it cost me £29. Ridiculous. Robbery in fact.”
“I used the mid stay parking for the first time. I had no trouble finding my way to the airport in daylight. On returning at night the path is poorly signed or absent at the obscure path leading off just before the tram station. I missed this and spent some time looking for the right way.
On leaving the car park the machine told me I needed to pay another £5.90. Fortunately I knew this to be incorrect but it caused unnecessary stress and hassle.
Please sign the path prominently and mend the machine.
Thanks”
“multistory park very good, but access to airport from there is very poor, having to walk outside in rain.
sign posting to enter the car park is very confusing and poor...this morning I was asked for an additional £50 despite having pre-booked for the correct duration...spoke to person at the exit who so resolved the issue, with no additional cost to me ( dates/time etc. all correct).”
“On return from Spain at 11pm in heavy rain I put card in the Barrier but was asked to pay £35 when I had paid on line. I used the intercom and got a rude man asking me for email reference number ! ? Took ten minuets to get out 😡”
“I think it is a total rip off the prices they charge, I went for the cheapest option twice this week, 2 hours in long stay£11.99 and 3 hours in long stay £12.99. Both times I tried to exit the barrier wanted £32 which is the price for 1 hour up to 24 hours if you dontprebook and prepay online. I would have preferred to park in the terminal but your prices are so expensive. This to me is total greed.”
“After paying online for the long stay car park, when placing the ticket in the ticket machine at the barrier it said I was still due £70.Thankfully I had it fixed out quickly when reading my reference number out.”
“Having pre booked parking in the multistory as I was tight for time, I accidentally approached the bus access lane, so took a ticket from it. I was then refused entry to the multi story. I parked outside the multistory, and went to the office where I explained the problem and was given a new ticket.
On my return I drove to the exit and inserted this ticket. I was refused exit, I returned to the office where I was told I could have had it sorted by pressing the button at the gate. They gave me yet another ticket. Once again I was refused exit at the gate. There were four buttons, no indication of which to press. Eventually I got through and after a long pause was allowed out.
Conclusion
Your signage is a disgrace
Your staff don't know how to sort problems”
“Edinburgh Airport itself was understaffed when we fame through so it took over an hour for our bags to be delivered from the plane.
The car park itself was good and close to the terminal and easy to find, but we had to call an operator both on the way in and out as no instructions were provided for people who had pre-paid and there is no number plate recognition. They need to make things a lot clearer. That said, it was cheap and convenient, but leave yourself enough time.”
“Pre paid for my parking in advance - came to exit the car park late at night only to discover it wanted an extra £34 from me. I've tried to find contact details to query this but all I have found is a phone number. I would have thought in the age that we live an email address would be offered. I'm out of pocket and can't phone to discuss because of the hours I work. Not impressed and won't be bothering again.”
“Edinburgh Airport is fine but carpark customer service is TERRIBLE! Barrier was broken, pre-booked space wasn't accepted, customer services wouldn't reply. No idea how to get my car out of the carpark when I get back to Edinburgh. 4 days later, still no reply. Might use Newcastle in future.”
“The cost to park at Edinburgh airport is scandalous. How the high levels of charges can be justified is beyond me. £56.00 to leave your vehicle in a multi -storey overnight !!”
