“We tried 4 different long stay areas before we parked our car. There was no actual person to direct us and using local names for the hotel we were advised to look for did not help. We had a lovely journey up to Edinburgh to start our 40 th anniversary holiday to Antigua then 1 hour of sheer hell trying to park! We will try to NEVER have to fly from Edinburgh ever again.”
“The parking is ludicrously overpriced to begin with - it is cheaper to fly over an ocean than to park in a 8ft by 15ft square at Edinburgh airport.
For the past six months the airport has also been charging customers to use a 'fast track' service when parking in multi-storey and instead of providing this service sending them to a back room that they use to security clear all of their employees which isn't set up for a fast service, is wildly disorganised and substantially slower than a normal queue. They are radically mis-selling the service they are actually providing, customers are making constant complaints about it and they are utterly ignoring these.
A huge exercise in extracting money from people, and a very compelling argument against the existence of monopolies.”
“I prebooked my parking and, obviously prepaid. However, when I went to the exit gate and inserted the card I had been given on arrival, with my car's registration number printed, the gate would not open, but instead asked for a massive sum of money from me. I had to press a button to phone for help, when I was asked for my booking number - which obviously I could only find by searching for my booking receipt.
On every other car park number recognition given entry on arrival and exit on leaving with no fuss. Why does the airport car park not do this? This VERY POOR service.”
“When i made the booking i got the time wrong, booked as 10am rather than 10pm. Unable to change booking so rebooked as unable to find out how much extra i would pay when picking up my car. Phoned up to find out and unable to get an answer. Even then my new booking was not recognised by the car park. Total cost was approx £77 instead of £36”
“Be careful if you book ahead and your plans change. They are inflexible with amending your booking (even for a different date that will be more expensive and accepting the £10 admin fee). You have 14 days after booking to change, otherwise you lose your money. A shame, as they used to be flexible and customer orientated but this seems to have changed in the last year”
“The directions were not clear for someone who was not familiar with the site layout.
I ended up parking in the Prem-air Long Stay car park which cost £58 in addition to the prepaid fee for Edinburgh Airport Parking.
A map of the directions would have been very helpful but was not included in the information.
Not a good start to a holiday :-(”
“I arrives at 10:00 hrs and could not find a parking place. I circled the car park for 20 mins without success. I then took to "stalking" travellers arriving home to Edinburgh and finding out where they had parked. When they left I then took over their parking spot. Finally, the parking spaces at the airport are too narrow to accommodate a family car such as a Range Rover.”
“My flight home was delayed and I had to pay extra on my pre paid ticket before I could get out of car park barrier of long stay car park. No help point !!”
“I have just spoken to a girl at Edinburgh Airport Parking as I needed to change a booking. I have parked there just about every week for business for the last 14 years - I could have bought the car park by now! I couldn't believe how incredibly rude and unhelpful she was. Just unbelievable. Edinburgh take note! What if I was a tourist! But instead I was a local having to change my car parking because of a family bereavement. Called at 15.35 pm and hopefully they will have taped it. I am disgusted”
“Absolute disgraceful I paid £68 for 6 nights in the multi storey car park for then to be charged another £51 when I exited!
I would at least like an explanation on why yous decided to double charge me!
Shocking”
“Having pre booked and paid in advance, was not able to exit via the ticket barrier. The exit barrier machine showed a message with a huge outstanding balance, so I had to go through a long process via intercom to exit. No apology and slow. This is the second time this has happened this year, which shows there must be a flaw in the process.”
“Absolute con, i pre paid my parking for 2 days on the internet, parked in the first long stay car park i came to. Came back to the car trying to leave to be told that this isnt right airport car park and i would be charged again. So not only did i pay £27.99 for 2 days online i was then charged another £34 to get out just for 2 days. Now its fine if the car parks are ran by different companies but surely there should be some kind of signs saying this and the very first car park you come to is the one the airport doesnt run. it would be nice to hear something back from the airport about this.”
“The ticket I was issued with upon arrival was not accepted at the exit barrier upon departure. I was threatened with a fine of £160 and had to back the car up against oncoming traffic before parking again and walking to the office to complain. I was issued with a ticket which did work and was told the original barrier reader had misread my pre-purchased online ticket. All of this situation resulted in a delay of 45mins. which negated the purpose of choosing the Terminal parking in the first place! Dreadful !”
“Poked online in advance. Very smooth. Bus from terminal was prompt. Went to leave and put ticket in exit machine. Tried to charge me full fare. Exit machine faulty. Tried to call intercom. Faulty. Tried intercom in next lane.
Got through to operator. Who was pretty bored. Had to quote booking ref. Which luckily I could access on my phone. Operator seemed used to the glitch. Finally ‘released’. 20 mins of hassle. Thought you should know.”
