“1. The stance for the long stay car park is too far from the terminal building and needs to be moved closer.
2. On the return bus to the long stay car park the driver failed to stop at the required stop in spite of pressing the request stop button in plenty of time and seeing an acknowledging stopping sign appear on the bus.
3. There was a problem at exit where the prepaid booking ticket was rejected. This appears to be because someone had left a previous ticket in the exit machine slot. The matter was resolved after using your help button where I was told to reverse and try another machine which worked.
I have had none of these problems when travelling from Glasgow airport using their long stay parking facility.”
“I pre booked to the non covered car parking between 7am and 10pm on 12/01/17, for about £39. I got an email booking ref but no ticket - entry to the carpark was meant to be by the cctv checking my license plate and the barrier automatically lifting. The barrier did not lift and I had to take a normal ticket.
Given the high cost of parking that gave me a little bit of extra stress that I might have to pay twice.
The customer service desk were very helpful and sorted me out so well done to them.”
“Parking is fine but the number plate recognition that other reviews mentioned didn't work so i had to ring through from the barrier to get in and out. It wasn't the slick procedure i was hoping for.”
“I booked in advance for Terminal Surface Parking and received my confirmation via e-mail. All good so far. I arrived at the location to find that the barrier wouldn't open for me automatically as stated it would. An issue with the number plate recognition system perhaps? A large queue of cars built up behind me while discussed the issue over the barrier intercom. A check on my booking reference revealed that someone hadn't entered my number plate correctly into the system, but it was however showing clearly on the documentation. I was to manually take a ticket from the barrier machine to let myself in and resolve the matter upon my return in ten days time. My heart sank and I sat shaking my head at the prospect. Also, there was now no space for me in the surface car park and so I was 'upgraded' to the multi -story, but again I had to explain why I had parked there to someone when I got back. I feared the worst - I was due to arrive back at the airport at 11:30 pm and had no desire to try and sort it out at that time of night after a long journey home, (if indeed there was going to be someone there to discuss it with). I had recurring visions throughout my holiday of a difficult and protracted discussion when I got back as I tried to explain the issue or, worse still, that I would end up having to pay for my ticket a second time at the machine and have to try to claim the money back later. Upon my return it was nearly midnight by the time I got to the car park office, (apparently manned 24 hours). There was indeed a chap there and I readied myself for a tussle. I gave him the manual entry ticket and my booking reference. A few taps on his computer and without any todo whatsoever he returned the ticket, told me that it was all sorted and that I was to have a safe onward journey. Who knew?! Good in the end but not such a good start, and I could have done without being concerned about it over my holiday.”
“Confusing guidance to find the car park. (I was a first time user) Bus very slow in collecting on return. Watches 3 buses from Secure Air Parks coming and going. This was a one-off change from Secure Air Parks, but will go back to them.”
“As usual getting into the car park and getting parked is no problem.
However when it comes to getting out it's a different matter.
Everytime I try to leave. The machine asks me for money. Even though I have already prepaid.
So I have to go through the rigmarole of contacting someone to let me out.
This happens everytime I use the multi storey car park.”
“Mid-stay parking was very handy for the terminal - a 5 or 6 minute walk with no waiting around for a bus. Great value too as we pre-booked and pre-paid, and took advantage of a 10% offer I saw on facebook.
However, we did spend a long time looking for a space, despite pre-booking and on return to the car at the end of our holiday, when we put the ticket into the machine to validate it for exit, we were told we owed £270 for the parking. This was alarming and meant we had to go to the barrier and contact staff for assistance and then give our reference to prove we had pre-paid before we were let out. Luckily I had this reference with us! The instructions need to be clearer to avoid other people getting this message.
So, good value but allow plenty time to find a space and be prepared for a shock when you try to exit!!”
“This is 2nd time I have chosen Valet Parking and both times - confusing.... The signs leading into Valet Parking area are not clearly visible, especially in the dark and when in traffic with everybody in a rush....
The idea itself is good, just needs to be better organised.”
“I have given average because when we came to exit car park on entering my ticket the machine showed a fee of £265. I got quite a shock thinking have I parked on the wrong site anyhow having to search my case for parking confirmation of prepayment I pressed the button and gave my reference number and was allowed to exit. Otherwise I would have given 5 star”
“We had paid online for our parking. thought it would be easy to park. Arrival no problem but departure asked us for £145 .. had to verify with our confirmation. it was dark and not so easy so easy to read number... however helpful service having pressed the help button and we were on our way. ..”
“Prebooked online. However when leaving the car park the barrier machine stated I owed 160 pounds. Sorted out quickly but only because I had the booking reference easily to hand. So make sure you have this at the ready on exit from car park.”
“My only comment was that on arrival I wasn't entirely certain I was at the official Edinburgh Airport Long Stay Carpark. This was because of a few things. The charges sign mentioned a week long stay charge of around £130. I can't remember exactly the cost on the sign. I pre-booked and prepaid from a range of costs available to me from £27.00 up to the £130 yet it appeared that I could park anywhere.
So during my trip I was wondering;
1. Why anyone would pay a higher amount than the cheapest cost.
2. Was I in the correct carpark
3. Was I going to be asked to pay the higher charge of £130 on return.
These are things I could have done without on my trip. Apart from that all was fine.”
“Having prepurchased our parking space we were then denied entry on the day, so had to contact the office who were then able to open barrier. We them had to repeat this procedure on our return.”
“Extortionately expensive parking, conveniently close to the airport. Just like most airports, really.
Having ripped you off for parking they then fleece you all the way to then departure gate, with an enforced trek through an overly crowded duty free.
But what choice have we got?
Pay up and shut up!”
“The airport is a total rip off! Paris has a ten minute free drop off - "kiss and fly" - you just rip everyone off. The walk from parking to the terminal now has the main door to the terminal blocked off. If Edinburgh airport can make something difficult and more costly they do”
