“I booked and paid for Edinburgh Car Parking a few months before we were due to go on holiday. The directions and map were very helpful and was easy to find. When we arrived the barrier did not open the first time so we had to reverse and try again...which then opened. We received a ticket with our registration number on it which I kept for our exit on return. On our return from our holiday, we put the ticket into the exit point to raise the barrier but then it showed a charge of £165 which I nearly had a heart attack! My husband asked for assistance and explained that I had pre-booked and pre-paid. We were asked for our reg number then the barrier was raised. What is the point of cameras to read the reg plate if this cannot be done automatic?”
“Unfortunately for me,I had to rebook as original booking came up for 1500hrs when I was actually arriving at 0600hrs. Transfer from multi story to check in was excellent fast track. Coming back there was no number plate recognition so had to call and wait for a good few minutes for a response then give details of booking etc before eventually getting out of the car park. This could be much smoother process.”
“Arriving was easy, found a space no problem, used the fast track security with no issues.
Came back and car was fine, no issues. Tried to exit car park and machine told me i was due £360!! Looked like folk in car next to us had same issue. Pressed the assistance button, bloke answered quickly and raised the barrier. Shouldn't have had to do that though, we were well within our booked times and where do you get the £360 charge from anyway???”
“I have parked with you twice in the last 2 weeks and both times my ticket would not let me out. Now eventually when I got an answer from the intercom after questioning who I was I was released! But gives one a fright to initially be told you owe £95 when you know you prepaid. I know it’s probably a glitch I hope so and not an attempt to rip off unsuspecting clients.”
“The good. It's close to the Airport and price is reasonable when pre-booked.
The not so good. The slalom course of a path to get to the airport on foot compounded by lack of clear signage on the pedestrian route.
The bad. Despite having prepaid, when trying to exit being shown that I need to pay £95. Sorted by using the intercom to speak to an operator who did open the barrier. But seemed to be happening to a lot of other drivers which meant slow queues and a long wait (not helped by an obviously drunk passenger in another car swearing at his wife and the world in frustration).”
“Booked ‘plane parking’, upgraded to long stay according to email. Parking was less than the 10-12mins walking that was advised. Machine wanted me to pay £95 upon exit, however resolved swiftly by pressing for assistance and giving number plate. Would not hesitate to book again.”
“Getting in to carpark very easy, however Getting out was a different matter on putting my ticket in the machine said I owed £130. Which caused a bit of a scare, but after pressing the help button it was sorted out very quickly. Also was a bit shocked on arrival the fast track bridge was closed. Regards”
“All was going well until we approached the barrier to leave and were informed that we had to pay £120 to exit even though we were still within our prepaid time”
“At the price, I'd have hoped for undercover walkways to key drop. Had to call the attendant to get out of the car park as the camera recognition didn't work.”
“Please be more clear about the fact that you need to take a parking ticket. Also, the system did not recognize the booking so I had to contact the customer support before leaving.”
“I booked the multistorey parking for 9 days, about 10days before the departure I change my car. I went online and updated my registration however on my departure from the car park the Barrier would not open and was asked to pay £450. I used the intercom and the assistant let me out.
As it was 10pm at night it was disappointing that the problem occurred.
However it was resolved quickly.”
“Free spaces indicated electronically had no relationship to actual spaces on each level, they were wildly out, ie…..58 spaces and none free on most levels, ended up on roof!
On departure vehicle registration not working”
“The automatic gate wasn't working. Asked for £110 to get out. Even though I'd pre-paid. Thankfully the guy who answered the intercom was good with it and handled it easily. But I could have down without the moment. Get it fixed asap!”
“For a number of reasons, we often travel to Edinburgh from Aberdeen to fly to our chosen destination and have used the Long Stay Parking on many occasions. We are a couple in our sixties. Although we tend to arrive at the car park as early as 0500 hrs we always had major issues finding a space in the car park and this can be very stressful. We don't want to have to abandon our car on kerbs and yellow lines as we have seen many other drivers do. On this last occasion, by the time we eventually found a space literally at the other side of the car park, and due to having to walk with no buses available, it took a very long time for us oldies to get to the terminal with two suitcases and two carry on bags. We were away for two weeks, and on our return and another long track with cases, we put the pre paid ticket in the exit barrier machine and were promptly asked to pay a fee of three hundred and thirty pounds! It took quite some time to speak to an assistant and get the matter sorted while cars were piling up behind us, causing even more stress for everyone. This is not the first time our pre paid ticket has been denied and we have had to go through this rigmarole. It just adds to the stress and worry of travelling and is completely avoidable if the system were properly run. Will look elsewhere for parking in future.”
