“Directions to the Mid-Parking area very poor.
Having missed the turning it is immpossible to turn around without having to pay a pound to get out of the drop off area.”
“The long stay car park has been reduced in size by 30 - 40% to accommodate a "new mid stay car park" which you walk to the terminal. This Is more expensive than the long stay. Why do we have to pay more for less? The number of spaces in the long stay is greatly reduced and oversubscribed. As a weekly traveller I am no longer confident I can get a space in time to then catch my flight. Cars were parked on corners etc. Despite booking in advance I am obviously not guaranteed a space, will you compensate me for missing a flight and onward connections? Why not have bookable spaces in the car park, I don't want or need to have a risk of missing flights as I drive around looking for a space. You are not organised.”
“I used to use this car park every week as I was away with work but since changing job I haven't needed to use it for a while, last week was the first time in months I had used it and cars are just parked everywhere, it's a mess. When you pay for parking you should get a bay.”
“I pre paid £35 when booking however when we arrived at the car park had to gain entry through the barrier and there was no indication as to how to do this if pre paid.
Pressed the buzzer on the machine and person who spoke advised we had to take a ticket even though I stated I'd pre paid. No further explanation was given as to how this would work. Also not a lot of direction regarding where buses go around the car park and easy to end up walking a distance
On return it was after midnight and I assumed I had to use the ticket however on doing this when leaving machine informed me I owed £140
Spoke to person via buzzer again who sorted this out via me giving him the code from booking form however would prefer clearer user instructions to begin with as this was a delay at the end of a long journey I could have done without”
“Paid for surface terminal parking. Sadly no spaces and after driving round for 40 mins looking for a space, we finally had to park in the multi story car park or would have missed our flight.
Unfortunately this meant our car parking cost £185 as opposed to the £42 for the parking we booked.”
“Facilities generally good but exorbitantly expensive. Leaving the car for 20 hours cost more than a full-fare return flight to London, including taxes!”
“The bus stop is getting further away from the exit/ entrance to the airport building. It used to to be just outside the door. The route from bus to building is also now longer and so less suitable for elderly passengers. There is no shelter from the weather at the airport bus stop.”
“Used the mid car park as like to be able to walk to the terminal. When I arrived there were no spaces with cars parked all over the place. Surely you know how many spaces are available and sell the appropriate number as it was chaos”
“Pre-booked parking and turned up to find very few spaces available. Required a blue badge space but none available. On our return realised that many of the cars in blue badge spaces were not displaying badges at all. Not good.”
“First time using Mid stay parking and will be returning to Long stay next time.
Mid stay car park had cars abandoned all over the place on pavements etc. and not in the bays, difficult to find walkway to airport, too far in the open wet conditions, uneven walking surfaces and road crossings.
Long stay bus is far more convenient and regular with more space to park.”
“Arrived on Sunday- no spaces ! Cars were doubled parked everywhere!
Car park overbooked - spent 15 minutes driving around looking for parking space- ended up parking on
Exit road!”
“The long stay car parking although booked and paid for in advance was full. There were no employees to ask or guide us and cars abandoned, not parked at every junction, making it tricky to drive. We drove around for nearly an hour looking for a non existent parking space. Added stress we didn't need.
On return from holiday we felt like we walked miles to the courtesy bus. It was 1 am and we were all tired. The bus was fairly full and the bus driver thought he was on a rally. He approached speed bumps at high speeds. The coffee we had purchased to keep us awake in our journey ended up spilt, he missed our stop out completely and finally to add insult to injury, our ticket was not accepted at the barrier on leaving the car park. I would not use or recommend the long stay car park again.”
“My code wasn't working when I drove up to the barrier so I had to get assistance to get in to the lot. Returning on a flight at 1am I could have done without the hassle.”
“Car parks over-booked. No entry into long-stay car park despite the fact that we'd pre-booked. We were told to go to mid-stay. By the time we returned cars were parked everywhere which made it very difficult to manoeuvre safely. We were asked for £150 at exit. Fortunately I'd printed off the booking confirmation and our reference enabled us to exit - others were not so fortunate. It was a mess caused by significantly over-booking.”
“Paid in advance for mid-term parking and the price was very attractive. Arrived at the mid-term parking to find no available spots and people had been forced to park wherever they could. The barrier continued to rise to let more and more people it became very hard to maneuver. In a rush to make my flight i end up parking halfway up the curb. Made for a very stressful Monday morning.”
“At 9pm on 12th October 2016, a large group of people who were parked in the long stay had to wait over 20 minutes for the bus to arrive, which was not welcome at that time of night.
Once the bus was full, the driver and his a colleague continued to chat for a further 5 minutes (which was not work related) and there was no apology or explanation for the delay.
I appreciate this is probably not usual to wait that long, but there was a bus full of unhappy paying customers eager to get home.”
“On arrival there were far too many cars parked for the amount of spaces available. No available space could be found. Therefore cars were parked on kerbs and blocking exits. A complete and utter disaster of a car park. Why not allocate the spaces for the amount of spaces sold rather than be greedy?”
“Ticket machine said I owed over £200 despite pre-booking. It took quite a while for someone to answer the phone at the barrier; resulting in a delay to us getting away.”
“Very poor experience due to entry and exit not recognising that I had prebooked my parking space. On leaving the car park I was being asked to pay £270 This took time and reluctantly they let me out without a word of thanks for my custom. Disappointing !”
“Although I had pre-booked parking at the long stay car park, my ticket was not accepted at the gate. Instructions re this were unclear as it was dark and the area was poorly illuminated.
This is the second time that this has happened, however, the previous time, there was an attendant available who was able to resolve the problem.”
