“Despite pre booking/paying - yet again barrier failed to open stating £195 charge.
After lengthy debate with concierge on comms - ticket activated and barrier opened.
No good enough!!”
“Over the last six months on each time we return to Edinburgh when we get to the barrier a large incorrect sum owing comes up on the barrier screen requiring contact with the barrier office. On our return this week we were at the barrier at about 01.00 am and had to wait a considerable time for the phone to be answered and to get away on our journey.
If the fee has been already paid and there is number plate recognition why can the barrier not be released on insertion of the entry ticket?”

“I pre-booked a space at the Mid-stay car park for 5 days. I'm very familiar with the airport facilities, but the Mid-stay car park was very poorly sign posted on the approach, where all the other car park areas where shown. It was only when you you one turn away from it you knew you were on the right track. Once I arrived there was not one single space free in the relatively small area. In fact there were 10+ cars parked on verges an in other restricted areas. As I was in a hurry I had to dump my car close to the exit gate in an area clearly not made for parking cars. In my mind there must be an over sale of tickets.”
“The new mid-term parking was cramped, lots of cars parked out of designated bays making manoeuvring difficult and it is too far to walk in bad weather to the terminal”
“Carpark appeared to have been over sold. Could not find a space and various other cars were parked on roadways, pavements and other non spaces. Eventually left our car on chips next to entrance, having to bump up over kerb.”
“Good morning
For many years my husband and I have used your long-stay carpark at Edinburgh Airport even although it is more expensive than the private ones round about. We like the fact that you park your car, jump on a bus and then you are at the terminal in no time.
Unfortunately our last experience was not a good one. When we arrived on Saturday 8th October to park, there was a huge queue of cars trying to turn around at the barrier. when we got to the barrier, we were told that we had been "upgraded" to the Mid Stay carpark. We eventually found it but couldn't get in for 5 minutes as no one answered the intercom. We were told we wouldn't be able to get back out on our return without giving our reference.
We then realised that you have to walk to the terminal - it took us 15 minutes. You may think that this is ok but we were trailing lots of luggage.
We didn't return until midnight on Saturday 15th and then had to make the return walk in the pitch black to the car. Unfortunately my husband's eye was hurt while we were away and he was wearing an eye-patch. He could hardly see in front of him. Thank goodness I wasn't a woman on my own. To add insult to injury the wheels on one of the cases buckled and we have had to throw it out!
When we eventually got to the barrier we buzzed the intercom as we had been told to do and - yes, you guessed it - no one answered for ages. Eventually a very rude man asked us what we wanted and we tried to give him the reference number. He said very rudely - have you even tried to put the ticket in the machine? We did and we left.
All in all a very negative experience. Had we wanted to walk 15 minutes in the dark, we would have booked the appropriate carpark. This was no upgrade in our opinion. Obviously you overbooked the longstay and this was a convenient way out for you, not for us.
I look forward to hearing your comments

“ALL SEEMED FINE ON ARRIVAL AND QUICK COACH TRANSFER TO AIRPORT BUT ON OUR RETURN AS WE WENT TO EXIT THE CAR PARK AND PUT OUT TICKET THRU THE BARRIER MACHINE WHICH HAD BEEN PRE-PAID ONLINE AND FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS WE WERE GIVEN, WE WERE VERY ALARMED TO HAVE THE SCREEN COME UP AND SAY WE HAD NOT PAIF AND OWED 3 TIMES WHAT WE HAD PAID ON-LINE!! THANKFULLY, WE PRESSED THE HELP BUTTON AND AS I HAD THE RESERVATION NUMBER WITH ME THE OPERATOR WAS ABLE TO CHECK WE HAD PRE PAID AND LET US THRU. HOWEVER, IF WE HADN'T HAD OUR CONFIRMATION OF PAYMENT PRINTED OFF AND WITH US IN CAR THEN WE WOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY AGAIN AND A LOT MORE. THIS NEEDS FIXED AS CAN CAUSE UNNEEDLESS STRESS AFTER A LONG FLIGHT!”
