“When I initially booked, I had the tickets in front of me. My return time should have been around 2.30pm, so I had put 4pm to give some flexibility. However, somehow the time on my ticket on my return showed as 0400. I wouldn't have done that, as the airport obviously is not open then, and I would have put the correct time in.
I checked the times before leaving, but didn't spot that. I thought everything was fine until my return, when I could not drive out of the car park without paying an extra £50!!!! That is not anything but overt ROBBERY. My main gripe is that there is no contact telephone number on the ticket, no person in an office anywhere, and no contact number anywhere. You are hiding behind anonymity, when all I wanted to do was pay the percentage extra because I made a genuine difficult-to-spot mistake. Glasgow, here I come. My booking ref was 3961584.”
“I PAID £37.99 FOR MULTI STOREY PARKING. BUT WHEN I GOT TO THE BOOM TO LEAVE I WAS CHARGED ANOTHER £70 .00 BEFORE I COULD GET OUT. THIS REALLY IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.”
“I had pre-paid for my mid-stay parking that was £30, when it came to leaving yesterday I put my ticket into the exit barrier and it said I was to pay £90!!! I phoned the assistance and explained my situation and he asked for my booking number, I gave it to him, and he realeased my ticket and opened the barrier. What. A. Joke.
This must happen to so many people daily, that just think they are the ones to have made a mistake and they pay the unnessary money. This actually happened to me earlier on in the year and because it was a lesser amount I was a fool and paid. Disgusting.”
“Parking space was ridiculous cars parked over lines couldn't access vehicle upon my return and doors skuffed clearly bays are too narrow ,also when i went to put ticket in machine on exit it wanted £240 for which i had already paid my parking for duration in park ,After a wait for rep i gave reservation number and finally got to drive off after having other frustrated motorists stuck behind me ,What did i save myself nothing paid a bit extra to have car parked next to terminal wont be using agian and certiang wont recommend it its a joke”
“Machine asked for £165 on a prepaid space. Difficulty in reversing to get back to machine. Speech from machine indecipherable. Told eventually to “take your ticket”. No apology for failure. Nor an explanation. Not the best experience when returning from holiday.”
“The whole airport experience is aweful. The roads to the airport are totally overcrowded with too many junctions, getting to the terminal from the car park is crazy, the main walkway leads to a door to the terminal that's no longer in use and attempting to get from the surface car park to the terminal involves negotiating numerous obstacles. Getting out of the car par at peak times is also difficult because of all the buses and taxis that have to use the same exits as cars leaving the car park. In short, it's all a shambles.”
“Don't expect to find a parking space easily. Basically you are buying a lottery ticket for the chance to find to find somewhere to park (which if you are lucky may be a proper space but equally might be on double yellows, a grass verge, circulation road) or worst of all drive round and round not finding anywhere to park and MISSING YOUR FLIGHT !!!”
“Pre-booked surface car park. On arrival it was full, had to park in overflow area. Ended up with longest possible walk to terminal. Literally. Would have been just as quick. and a lot cheaper, using long stay. Why is there not a separate area for people who have made the effort to pre-book????????????”
“Very disappointing, due to a flight cancellation by Flybe I incurred a £40 charge for an extra night in the car park! This was more than the previous 3 days charge! Ridiculous!”
“Awful service. Booked Long Stay Express for 13.00, arrived 12.50 to be told all spaces full and we would have to wait so long we may miss our flight. Were told we would be "upgraded" to ordinary long stay that meant we had to drive round in circles for ages to find our own space. Clearly this so-called express system has been set up with no regard to the impact of lack of control over the number of bookings being taken. Typical of Edinburgh airport's lack of decent planning and management.”
“I would advise if you are thinking about parking at Edinburgh Airport DONT... avoid Surface parking at all costs. The spaces are far to small and you cannot get a normal car into a space without having your door dented by others.. Park outwith the airport or book into the multi story car park ... you will thank me after reading this review”
“We paid the package that was closest to the airport - which wasn't cheap. We arrived to find there wasn't a space to be found. Luckily we had time before our check in but we went round at least 5 times round the whole car park and ended up having to abandon our car on a yellow lined area. Obviously this made us anxious for our return that our car wouldn't be clamped or towed away, luckily it wasn't. Won't use again! Obviously overselling the number of spaces available.”
“I booked this parking six weeks prior to travel on the understanding that it was a two minute walk to the terminal On reaching the airport we were met by car park full signs and directed to another car park zones R and S. These were more like 10 minutes walk to the terminal with considerable traffic to avoid. The day before travel I noticed that you were still selling these spaces and they were £3.00 cheaper than my booking. On leaving arrivals we followed the signs for car parks and could find no signage to particular zones and were left to head in a general direction weaving our way through the cars. I have mobility problems and this was not acceptable.”
“Appalling lack of spaces available in Long Stay car park - customers have to vye with staff for available spaces - difficult to drive around due to the large number of illegally parked staff which airport turns a blind eye to - have submitted complaints about this previously but they get ignored and never merit the courtesy of a response. Parking is also getting more expensive - airport has been allowed to expand without having the proper infrastructure in place to support this. Have found car park staff to be rude and aggressive if you complain to them. As a regular customer I wouldn't recommend. Car Park service was infinitely better when airport was run by BAA.”
“The information on the Airport websites promise much and indicates that the "Long Stay Express is designed to be stress-free, secure and simple” (https://www.edinburghairport.com/about-us/passenger-commitments, https://www.edinburghairport.com/edinburgh-airport-parking/long-stay-express. This was not our experience.
Firstly, there was only one bus and a long queue, with a wait of over 20 minutes. It was steadily getting much longer behind us! Then we were jammed onto the bus so tightly that we could hardly move, while the driver was ordering standing passengers to squeeze up tight throughout to allow even more people on board. There were children perched on a shelf behind our seat and suitcases everywhere as the racks were full. It was dangerous and I am sure breached more than a few safety rules. The driver gave no information about the various stops and, given the packing of the people on the bus, we could not see out to identify the appropriate stop for ourselves.
Secondly, when we eventually reached the key reclaim, I complained to the young man behind the counter about our awful experience. He laughed! He asked no questions, made no attempt to understand, and treated me with rudeness and a total lack of concern.
Next, when my husband and I returned to our car, it was parked straddling two spaces and far too close to the next car. (On our way back to the car, four couples, unprompted by me, said the they would “Never Again!” use this service.)
Finally, still very annoyed by the laughing at my initial complaint and further incensed by the bad parking of my car, I returned to the Key Reclaim office to reinforce my complaint. This time, there was a better customer complaint response from another member of staff who explained that the general chaos of the evening was due to having only one bus and insufficient parking staff.
Stress-free and simple!!! Quick and efficient!!!!
Not for us and many on Saturday 27 October 2018.”
