“We used the parking in the building next to the terminal which was great for immediate access, exit and fast track for security which was part of the ticket we bought. However, after our trip the vehicle registration recognition system failed and we had to contact administration at the exit barrier to obtain exit.
This has happened to us every time we have reserved parking through Edinburgh Airport. Perhaps there are instructions that we are not understanding or the system simply does not do what we are expecting of it but that aspect just does not live up to our expectations.”
“I changed the car I was leaving a few days before and got a confirmation. When trying top leave the carpark, I was refused exit and the screen said I had £218 to pay! I had to contact the operative / attendant and resolve the matter, causing some stress and inconvenience to me and those in the queue behind me where they had to reverse dn select another gate / barrier. The attendant was courteous and resolved the issue, but this took several attempts and a good few minutes. I choose to use this service because it is normally good value and efficient - NOT on this occasion.”
“Difficult to find a space on arrival. Charged £13.50 because the plane was diverted to Newcastle and consequently we were 5 hours late when collecting our car. Proximity to terminal building is a plus.”
“Easy to find and straightforward to park. However the bus stops were hard to spot and it was a long walk to the nearest. On return it was not easy to see which stop would suit us best and we ended up with an even longer walk!”
“Parking is close to terminal and well priced. I had hassle at the exit though and had to use the intercom as the barrier would not raise and it looked like I was going to be charged £130 despite having pre-paid. Guy on intercom eventually resolved issue.”
“if someone could explain WHERE EXACTLY THE CLOSEST CAR PARK IS ACTUALL NEAR TERMINAL AS I CANNOT FATHOM OUT WHERE IT IS ,SO I USE LONG STAY BEHIND HILTON”
“There were very few spare spaces and those that were spare were very tight, and could do with being about a foot larger to accommodate both larger and smaller cars easier.”
“close enough to the terminal that I could get there under my own steam and not have to queue for a bus.
But....
I had booked "surface parking" and yet when I arrived, I had to drive round 3 times before I found a space. the lesson is simple: the airport sells the space in advance however it accepts turn-up-and-park cars that undermine the people who have booked. if I hadn't found a space, the problem was 100% mine and the airport wouldn't have been interested.
the other unhappy issue was that the scanners at the fast track station couldn't read my 'home printed' boarding pass and because of their failure, wouldn't honour my fast track access. grrr-effing-grrr.”
“The airport parking itself is convenient. The shuttle bus just runs on a constant loop, so there was very little waiting to be done. Downside is that despite pre-paying for my parking, the machine was trying to charge me £65 to exit. I used the telecom system, and provided my registration, only to be told there was no booking under that registration.
I had to get my suitcase out of my boot, to open it to find all the holiday paperwork (that I assumed I would no longer need), and managed to find a printed copy of my booking. I provided the booking reference, and then my booking was found. No apologies, no explanation. So just watch this. Keep your booking reference handy, even if you have your registration and your ticket you get on arrival.”
