“The car park and location were both great and liked the fact that there is no need to take a bus. However for the second consecutive time, although having prepaid my parking I was asked to pay a fee on exiting the car park on this occasion £240. I pressed the button for help and it didn’t work and therefore my partner went to the entry point to use the intercom there. After quoting our reference we were let through the barrier. Again for the second time their was not so much as an apology for the inconvenience.”
“Overall the parking at Edinburgh Airport was good. However there were a couple of changes that could be made to improve the service and make things easier.
The first issue is that when you book online, the map that is shown with your booking confirmation isn't very clear, nor is any decent description given on where the car park is, or how you the service works when you have pre-booked your parking. I guessed that seeing as I had pre-booked, the entry gate would read my number plate or something along those lines, so that when I returned from holiday, my ticket would take into account the pre-paid service. This should be made clear upon booking for those less familar with long stay parking, especially when the car park appears to be unmanned.
Secondly when exiting the motorway, the NCP 'Long Stay Car Park' is the first thing that you approach, and at a glance this looks like the 'official' Edinburgh Airport parking. So much so that nearly ended up in there. Again to reiterate my point, clearer sign posting and description of where the Long Stay Car Park is need to be supplied in advance. I'd even suggest a renaming of the various car parks to something more individual, and even colour coding.
We arrived early in the morning, approx 4-5am and the car park was extremely poorly lit and it was difficult to work out where the bus would collect you to take you to the terminal building. Not all the ticket payment pays are listed as a bus pick up, so we ended up walking to the other side of the carpark where we saw others waiting for the bus, getting soaked in the process.
I would probably use the long stay parking again, but I do think simple changes would make things easier. Ensuring you're in time for your flight and have everything you need can often be stressful enough without the additional worry of not knowing exactly where you should be parking or if you might return from your trip to find you've been charged the normal rate.”
“Parking at the airport is easy and a short walk to the terminal. Getting out is a pain when you have prebooked and paid parking and you are stopped at the barrier saying you are owe £84!! Very annoying. Happens every other time I park there!”
“I paid extra for terminal parking as it says two minute walk to terminal. On arrival the car park was full and we were directed to zone r and s which is further away. Zone r and s are still considered terminal area but definitely further away. Having said that when I couldn't find a space I phoned the airport helpline and the man who answered was extremely helpful and directed me to zone r and s”
“I prepaid for multi-storey and Fast track entry. This worked ok on the way out, but not on the way back. At the barrier the machine refused my ticket and said there was a balance of £55 due. Pressing the call button got this sorted after I had found the sheet of paper with the booking reference. Not exactly seamless.”
“Smooth process but car park is normally full and spaces are narrow. Prices are also high for short duration stays (e.g. Picking someone up for 30 minutes costs nearly £10)”
“The multistory is well organised but expensive. The biggest hassle is getting in and out of it through the entirely unsuitable access road which gets clogged at busy times”
“The ease and speed to get to the terminal building was great. In future, I will try to reduce stress by allowing much more time to park. On the day I parked it took far too much time to find a space because the park was extremely busy...”
“Number recognition did not work in the mid carpark - however the attendant was very efficient checking against order number and name and was able to exit after few minutes.”
