“I may have just been unlucky but on entering , having pre booked I was issued my ticket but barrier did not open . So I pressed again/ was issued another ticket and barrier opened . This caused me a problem when returning from holiday even though my email was answered when I was abroad assuring me that everything would be good on my return .”
“Booked in advance, but when we turned up car wasn’t recognised, had to speak to the man on the machine who was great & sorted it out , on leaving car park the machine tried to charge us £200 , but we had already paid ! The man on the machine sorted it for us again.”
Hi,
It sounds as though our automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system hasn't registered you upon entry. When this occurs, it means our system doesn't match you to your booking and you are then charged the roll-up rate in error upon exit. This doesn't happen often but when it does, I understand the frustration that it causes.
I'm glad you managed to get it sorted at the time.
Kind regards,

“2 years on the trot we were never given a ticket upon entry, then asked for hundreds of pounds whilst leaving, just a nuisance having to explain we’d already paid fee, parking is excellent, very close to terminal.”
“We knew the shuttle bus was not running which wasn’t a problem for us. However, there was a total lack of instructions, directions and signage to get us to the terminal. Good job we had plenty time.”
“Great parking facility and easy to book. Unfortunately the courtesy bus wasn’t in operation which meant me having to walk 15 minutes with a heavy case.”
“The road layout leadinto edinburgh airport is awful. I have visited the airport many time however trying to identify the correct car park is always difficult due to poor and confusing signage. The infrastructure lacks investment and needs to be designed like a modern international airport.”
“Okay but could have been much better. When got there - couldn’t get access as car park apparently full so was informed pretty gruffly to use an overspill car park. Maybe that happens a lot but we don’t use the airport parking very often and the guy on the other end of intercom pretty graceless. Wouldn’t encourage us to use again”
“The parking spaces are incredibly narrow, we had to empty the car before wedging into a space, damaged doors come as standard. No buses available when arrived or departed, long walk and no discount given.”
“Booked long stay and dropped partner off at multi-storey because there was no bus service running before finding space. Long walk to terminal via Multi-storey but no problems. On return to Edinburgh left partner at multi-storey again and tried to find path to long stay. No signs so knowing the airport I walked along access road to car park. Unable to exit car park as barrier would not accept ticket, buzzed and eventually got a person. Turns out the system had not registered my car on entry even though I was inside the booked time.”
“This was paid for in advance but when I exited the car park after arriving home, I was asked to pay extra £16 . After speaking on intercom, the barrier was lifted. A friend of mine says this happened to him at the same car park. Won’t return.”
“Had all gone well with my flight the parking would’ve been fine however when I was refused boarding I needed to extend the parking and that’s where problems began. Apparently once a period of parking has commenced you are unable to amend it but the website doesn’t explain this. Unable to contact Edinburgh parking by phone I ended up sending a message. Don’t hold your breath waiting for a reply as it took hours and didn’t make sense. Already stressed to death the reply did nothing to help. The booking website then churned out an error to say there were no products available for the dates selected plus a blank page with no information whatsoever. Eventually managed to book an additional 24 hours but the website is seriously lacking.”
Hi Iris,
I've looked into this for you and can see that one of our Support Agents responded to your initial request after 24 minutes. The information that was provided is correct and once a booking is active, you cannot amend it. If looking to extend time in one of our car parks you should create a new booking, starting at the time the original one ends, or at least 3 hours ahead (for example, booking at 1200 means you can't enter until 1500 and our booking engine won't show products starting at an earlier time).
Thanks,
Customer Support Team
“On exiting the machine asked for £300+ despite me prepaying £51.99 on booking. It was raining. The machine spat out my ticket. Thankfully assistance was at hand via the call button and I had the payment details on e.mail. Luckily I was able to find my ticket in the dark. Problem was I had amended my booking. As such my prepayment wasn't recognised. Anomaly in the system therefore that needs fixing. I wasn't happy after a long flight. Most inconvenient.”

“everytime i go and park for a short stay it always costs me more than stated , even if i pre book .this usually just dropping my son of or collecting . recently i have went to newcastle instead and what a huge difference .”
“I attended the airport three times during the festive period, twice to pick up incoming visitors and once to drop them off. I thought the charges for parking - £12, £10 and £4 respectively - were extortionate and people picking uo or depositing visitors or family members are being held to ransom by the airport authorities, and a matter for which they shoild be thoroughly ashamed. Well, you did ask.”
“I booked Plane Parking in early November, and was pleased that zLong term parking was the same price. When I arrived, there was no sign saying that Plane parking entrance was closed - so had to turn around and use Long Term entrance. Walking to the terminal was a gamble - sign were good to start with, but poor the nearer you get to the terminal. On the way back, there were absolutely NO signs to direct walkers to the car park, and I ended up walking in the road, across the tram tracks. Very poor !”
“Poor signage. No free Kiss & Fly - £5 to enter your the parking for a couple of minutes. The way from long stay parking lots to the terminal is a makeshift path through puddles of water or ice depending on weather; the surface is uneven and makes it impossible to roll your suitcase. I don’t even want to imagine what it’s like to navigate for people with mobility issues or parents. No shelter from rain. Absolutely no care for the traveller, just an inaccessible field of asphalt.”
