“We parked in long stay and took the bus to the airport. The point at which the bus stops, and at which you pick up the bus when you return to Edinburgh, is much too far from the airport terminal, I understand keeping public vehicles away from the terminal for security reasons, but the long stay car park buses should be picking people up at least as close as the public car pick up and drop off points, why not immediately outside like the other buses? I am guessing money is the reason, the long stay companies are not paying enough to let their buses into the terminal - this is sick think of your customers.
ALSO I hate walking through that stench of perfume in the duty free area as I proceed to my gate. Fumigate the area please.”
“Even though did everything as I should have for plane parking I knew it wouldn't go smoothly - needless to say held at barrier for 5mins & spoke to 2 operators before I got on my way... Belatedly!!”
“Grossly overpriced and last weekend made a 3 day booking only to have flight cancelled Could I cancel? Not a hope! No facility online, phone number ringing out and email request ignored. Avoid at all costs, use other parking on perimeter. Never again.”
“Disgusted the way you try and trick people - all the time. When I look at the pricing for terminal parking it quotes me £X. I therefore go for long stay at which point I am offered an upgrade to park at the terminal. This is cheaper than the rate I was offered first. Why not just offer that in the first place? It is virtually fraudulent as far as I am concerned. I use the taxi as often as possible to deny you the income and will continue to do so. Also, I happily spread the word and let other people know about your pathetic way you try and con the public.
Why not just be honest and fair with your customers?
I look forward to your response but as I have raised this point before and got no response, will not be holding my breath.”
“I had prepaid for one night when I arrived back and used my ticket to leave your machine at the exit barrier advised I was due to pay £79. I had to call for assistance and give my booking reference holding up the traffic behind me. Most embarrassing !”
“Came back to find my cars rear wheel mounted on kerb dread to think how the car was parked when I was away! Also never got fast tracked through security.”
“I followed the purple sign of the long stay parking, the system let me in checking my cars number plate... when i want to get out been charged £74 beacouse that was not the right carpark what i paid for it. They said their sign is also purple.....”
“The website didn't make it clear that there are several long stay car parks at the airport . I parked in the Long stay that I came across after driving from Edinburgh. I realised my mistake too late and had to pay £100 on return to exit the (premiair) Long stay having already paid £29 for the "official " long stay.I sent an email about this to the Edinburgh airport Long stay a few days later but had no reply.”
“Airport Parking Prices..........I have for the past 4/5 years used the Airport Parking when flying from Edinburgh. The prices for 14/16 Days has ranged from £63 to £77 over this period, however on looking to book for 26th September to 13th October 2017 I am getting quotes from £163 to £192 for the Multi Storey Parking which is our usual preference. This is with a supposed discount!!
Can you please advise me if there is a fault on the system giving these vastly increased prices or are these correct?
If they are correct is there a reason for such an exorbitant increase in charges?”
“Signposts could be more clearer. I ended up parking in the NCP long stay by mistake and it cost me an extra £96 on top of the £25 I had paid already. Not happy at all.”
“In my opinion, Edinburgh airport is extremely expensive compared to Glasgow and Prestwick airports. I have found that reasonable flight prices become prohibitive when you add parking, particularly at the short stay sites.”
“Booked and paid £57.98 in advance in multi-storey.
Got back last Saturday night put ticket in slot and was asked for £360.
Pressed help button and got through third time and asked for barrier to be raised.
Told to give details, moved car back from slot machine, get out car, into boot, open case get out booking papers, back to slot machine, give booking number name and car registration - fellow opens barrier.
Sunday morning sent email of complaint to info@parking.edinburghairport.com
Monday afternoon Email returned by server undelivered after many attempts.
I had asked for my money back so if you can achieve this your job will have been worthwhile.”
“The parking experience was the best part of Edinburgh Airport. Unfortunately, the door which used to lead onto all the parking is now closed and so we had to detour half way around the terminal. The signage to the check in desks was not clear, leading to us going in the wrong direction at first. The oversize luggage was as far away from the check in as it is possible to be. The queues at security on the way out and passport control on the way in were excessive. Worst of all is the complete inability of the baggage handling unit at Edinburgh to get luggage into the hall at anything like a reasonable speed. A full hour after we landed all the luggage had still not arrived. We should be prepared for this unbelievable delay, as Edinburgh is probably the worst airport in the world for baggage handing, but just because it is always so does not mean it is acceptable. The same bags were unloaded in Geneva in less than half the time. I keep thinking that all the money being spent is to improve the passenger experience but this is clearly not the case. Perhaps the management at Edinburgh could visit some other airports to see how they manage and perhaps they could spend some time in the baggage area and watch the reactions of their customers as time drags past. If they wish to contact me I would be very happy to share my experiences with them.
Regards
Malcolm Stewart”
“Best run airport in UK. Alway prefer to fly from there. They listen to their customers and always try to improve the customer experience. Nothing is too much trouble”
“Rip-off parking. I parked in the multi storey for an overnight stay. With everything else I had to organise, I forgot to pre-book and had expected to pay extra for that. I hadn't expected to be forced to pay nearly £100 for an overnight in the carpark. And the signage explaining this is not clear at all and is certainly not available early enough. I understand there is a business incentive to you to have people pay in advance but for it to be more than double the price if you drive up on the day is an absolute rip off. I will not be using any of Edinburgh Airport Parking services in future and indeed, will look at other options for flights from Glasgow. The whole place is now just a money sucking venture - forcing everyone through world shopping area after security is another example. I never thought I'd be sad to see the back of BAA.
I note that to submit this, I have to give you an email address. Yet another way to try and market to me when I don't want you to.”
“Exactly the same nonsense as the last time I flew from Edinburgh. Exiting the car park after my pre-booked, pre-paid one week stay, I inserted my ticket and the machine wanted c. £265 to let me out. Then there was the long, dark, cold shouted conversation down the intercom. Last time it happened I submitted a formal complaint; so that didn't achieve much. Now living in Cumbria, so fortunately I have a choice of 5 airports within 2 hours or so.”
