“Booked and paid in advance, straightforward.
On arrival, not clear which car park to enter.
On exit, I scanned my ticket and it asked me to pay the full price. Had to buzz for help and quote my reference from the email. Not sure where the glitch was, got no feedback.”
“Alas I was unable to take advantage of my booking because on arrival, both the entrance and exit barrier machines were frozen and there was no way nearby to call for help. The only phone number on the website goes to a voicemail option only.
In the end I had to drive round to the long-stay car park, use the intercom there, and was instead allowed to park in that car park, albeit about twice the walk as from the location I'd actually paid for.
Very poor to have no other of calling for help.”
“On arrival I was told there were no available disabled parking spaces, so I'd have to park further away from the check-in point. We did as asked, but when we walked from our car park space to the main building there were multiple (at least 5) disabled parking spaces available out front.
As a person with mobility issues, this wasn't really a great start. The whole point of me using this car park is to limit the amount of walking I need to do on travel day. To be told there are no spaces, when there clearly are, is unnaceptable. Staff should be checking this more thouroughly and not making assumptions.”
“Was informed by screen at exit that I was due to pay £260, despite paying for the parking in advance. Had to use the intercom system to get the situation resolved.”
“Sort comings: no trolley access for luggage in carpark which I coiuld see. The pathway to the ariport is a disaster.... requires one dediciated smooth surface from carpark across the burn and via the existing car rental route and after the car rental in the covered walk way. All the surfaces are varied and rough. with this improvment the need for trolleys in the car park is could be less necessary. There is no dedicated safe place to cross the road for pedestrians by the tram line. The pkaing itsled is fine and is the prepayment method. The physical expoereicne of going to and from you car is very very poor. I was in the parking long term - walkable behind the Hilton. Thanks FR”
“There were cars without blue badges in the disabled parking bays, a numbers of cars parked at an angle taking up two spaces and long wheel base vans taking up 1.5 spaces.”
“i have been travelling from edinburgh & glasgow for over 30 years , and up till this year it has cost about £70/£80 for a week , now last week i was £200 3 times the amount inflation is 1 thing daylight robbery is another , this is way way too expensive where is customer loyalty or even common sense ???”
“I had pre-booked the parking at the multistorey put when we put our ticket into the machine the barrier did not go up. we spoke to someone and they raised the barrier for us. After 2 week we arrived back at the car park, tried to leave at 2.30am and the barrier would not go up as it said we owned over £900. Spoke to someone and gave our car Reg number and the order ID number, which I lovely had with me. They then opened the the barrier. Not sure why nonw of gthe entry and exits worked as we had pre-booked. Not sure what went wrong.”
“I was prebooked but the ticket that was printed had the wrong reg plate on it. This caused issues when trying to exit and caused delay at the barrier.”
“Your website is VERY UNCLEAR. Thought we were booking normal parking but turned out we had booked some sort of valet parking which only became clear after booking completed. Then as within 24 hours we couldn’t cancel, so £60 totally wasted as we were just meeting family , not flying . Also compared to Glasgow Airport, Edinburgh Airport is ghastly. For people arriving for the first time they must think they have landed in a third world mess. For our capital city’s welcome it is dire!”
“Good: Terminal parking is truly fairly close to the terminal
Poor: Traffic congestion on airport approach due to numerous competing destinations served by the same small roads
Bad: Excessive cost for parking, difficult to find vacant spaces. Spaces are too small for modern cars. Ultimate insult was having to pay extra to use a baggage cart. This is ridiculous because very many travellers will need to use a baggage cart and the parking charges are already high”
“Bus didn’t come to collect us at 3am, no communication to say the bus wasn’t in service. Was not impressed with walking 30 mins to the car with a baby, pregnant wife and luggage in the middle of the night in the rain.”
“Poor this time, busy on entry and struggled to find a space. On exit car park was closed due to security incident. No decent information was available from airport staff or police, told car park will not be open till Sunday and to go home. Opened an hour later.”
“No space when we arrived at Plane Parking
Had to be directed to another carpark. As we were pushed for time not ideal and very stressful!
Surely if spaces are booked barriers shouldn't be allowing non bookings in..”
