“There's parking, closeish to the airport. The parking space itself is good, and the distance to the airport is fine. (I was in the long-stay part.) Make sure you book at least a week in advance. I didn't, and paid triple of what I was expecting to.
There are waaaay too many options to choose from when booking. The names of the parking lots are confusing, with lots of similar prefixes and tiny differences in names that make a lot of difference to the price.
The long-stay has a free bus that takes you to the terminal. It's not very often, so i you intend to rely on this make sure you arrive early.
Unfortunately for my return I was not able to find where this bus departs from, so I had to walk back to the parking. The signposting could definitively be a lot better. I was not able to find any signs for the long-stay car park until I had walked past the medium-stay one (I remembered that they were adjacent to each other, so I followed the signs for the medium-stay one).
If you follow sat nav to the airport, try to set it to the car park. If you follow it to "the airport" then most likely you'll be taken to the drop-off area, where you'll have to pay to get out. There's no grace-period, so even if you don't stop you'll have to pay. I've been burnt by this a couple times. (Must remember for next time...)”
“Had to wait 20 minutes to exit the car park due to the barriers failing with an apparent reluctance to just allow people to exit without checking tickets.”
“Booking online was very easy and accessible (price was very reasonable too), however once we got to the car park we spent 35 mins driving around in circles trying to find a free parking space even though we had booked a few weeks prior. It wasn't only us, there was 6/7 cars driving around in circles trying to spot a free space of which there was none - luckily we caught someone leaving and managed to get to our check in desk in the nick of time but had we not I don't know what we would have done.”
“Easy to find, good bus service to terminals. How vehicle recognision failed even though I paid online, wanted to charge me £130 to get out instead of £35. Man was rude when I pressed the green button, I tried to explain I had changed the registration number of the car online due to a vehicle change however he cut me off was really rude. However I did get out of the park without having to pay £130!!!”
“Having used the Car Park in 2016 with no problems my latest experience was disappointing
with access and egress denied by the number plate recognition system.
However staff member sorted the matter out quickly so was of no inconvenience to other users. Quick transportation to terminal with driver very helpful.”
“Easy walk to terminal but ticket came up as owing on leaving . Had to rake for reference number for duty officer before he sorted it out that barrier would lift. Queue then had built up behind me . Frustrating for me as prepaid customer .”
“Everything was okay, apart from not getting a parking spare on the floor I’d book to go fast track. I had to go to level 4 for a parking space when I booked the fast track on level 2 to ensure I got through quicker.”
“Edinburgh Airport Parking made me happy by providing a small rectangle of tarmac upon which I was able to leave my car safely from when I left on a plane until I came back again.”
“All fine with my two day booking in connection with a trip to Amsterdam until my flight was delayed for an initial one and a half hours. Boarded the aircraft only to be advised of a further delay of at least four more hours. At this point we left the aircraft, collected the car and went home. When I telephoned the next day requesting a partial refund of the two day charge I was informed that this was not possible. So I am charged for two days for about a five hour stay. That's what I call customer service.”
“Unfortunately my sat nav packed in on me in travelling to the airport parking and ended up using the wrong car park at the cost of £16 per day , but hopefully can can take advantage of the £29.99 for four days parking instead of having to pay almost £100 for my four day trip”
“Why do customers have to walk the length of the airport twice - for plane to baggage reclaim, and from baggag3 reclaim to bus stop? It feels like the walk is longer than the bus journey”
