“When we arrived our car registration wasn't recognised. Then we had to face a lengthy walk to the airport. When you are in your 70's this is not ideal with 2 large cases even using a trolley. On our return at 2am on a cold Edinburgh morning we had to face a long walk back to the car in the dark. Not ideal. Will not be using long stay carpark again until shuttle buses are reinstated. Another holiday in September and will use a taxi. Have used carpark a number of times with no issues. I will not be recommending facilities under present conditions”
“On way out ok as route clearly marked but no signs on way back to walk. Need better signage at arrivals. Also lots of loose trolleys everywhere and litter. Very unkempt.”
“Not a great start could not get entry. Not able to speak to anyone at barrier for about 2 minutes . Taking time finding details on system and exactly the same when leaving. Took another 15 minutes to find a space. Also need to improve signage directions to car park from Terminal.”
“I was really annoyed to find that after our easyjet flight was cancelled, we had the extra punishment of finding a savage surcharge for over staying our parking time. I think that is unnecessary and leaves a bitter taste. You know which flight we are on because you ask for that information at booking.”
“Long stay has zero facilities, a massive sprawl of cars, as cars have got bigger / wider over the years, the spaces haven't. Unfortunately, damage caused by too little space is becoming more apparent - IE, minor dents, scuffs, wing- mirrors, etc.
Added to this, you may have a very long walk (possibly in the rain) with no protection, as the busses haven't been available. Until the busses are brought back, I couldn't recommend this option.
On-line booking works well, but the price is extortionate.
There is a short cut for walking, but this is not clearly marked or known, but is still a long walk.”
“I see no benefit to using FastPark rather than the Terminal Parking lot other than it was cheaper for some reason. Which begs the question, why is it more expensive to park in the Terminal parking lot which doesn't require all the high tech camera, extra staff, building etc? The Terminal Parking lot was easier - drive up, collect a ticket, park your car leaving seat and mirror as you like them and make sure lights are off, go on holiday, return to car, leave using same ticket to clear barrier gate. The new FastPark is more complicated, though the staff were helpful. On exiting, Fast Park still required you to collect yet another ticket to exit its barrier gate and also the barrier gate for the Terminal Parking lot. Also, I had to readjust my seat and mirror which is not required when using the Terminal Parking lot. I also found the headlights were left on which could have proved disastrous. Rip it all out and reinstate the spaces for the Terminal lot.”
“Parking at the terminal surface might seem a good idea as it is close to the terminal. However, you will probably spend ten minutes going round and round trying to find a space before ending up as far from the terminal as it is possible to get while still being in the terminal car park. You'd be as well parking elsewhere. Might try the multi-storey next time if there is a good deal.”
“Flight was delayed...then baggage took over an hour ...and to round it off keys for car were unable to collect due to delay so had to wait for them to go collect car from wherever they park it when your away!! At 4am in morning last thing you need waiting40 mins to collect your car!!”
“All fine until I came out and was away to get changed £178 after already pre
Paying £89.99 for 3 days.
Man at the machine sorted it but how many unknown visitors tourists etc don’t know better and pay it? Absolute Chancers. Probably not use again to be honest at that price.”
“Very badly signed for driving and walk to and from airport departures and arrivals. No guidance at all on access having pre paid. Remote and badly lit.”
“3rd time I’ve used this car park and every time I have tried to exit the car park after my holiday the exit machine after inserting my ticket has tried to charge me around £180 even though I had pre-paid
This time I made sure I had my confirmation email on my phone so after waiting for ages to get through to someone on the intercom I was eventually let out
Disappointing Service Yet Again”
“I was disappointed to have to pay a fee of £40 after returning to my car 12 hours later than planned due to a cancelled flight when my original charge for 5 days was £42.99.”
“Car park was very full and signage that pointed to where spaces were led us on a wild goose chase, to a series of dead ends. Eventually found one completely by chance. Driver car door was dented (presumably) by car that was parked beside us. A short walk to the airport though, so it was handy to not have to wait for a shuttle bus.”
“Car been scratched by another motorist (not Edinburgh Airport's fault), spaces are tight and some SUVs drivers struggle to manoeuvre. Stupidly expensive for 1.5 days (£60). Not worth the extra money over other car parks nearby.”
“Our return flight was delayed meaning that we returned to collect our car late. Given that I had provided our flight details, Edinburgh Airport Parking must have known this. Nonetheless, we were charged an additional £15 despite the fact that our late retrieval of our car was completely beyond our control and entirely due to the delay in our flight and a delay in our being allowed to disembark from the plane at Edinburgh Airport.”
“Due to change in flight plans (inbound flight cancelled), on Sunday I tried to change my parking booking online. This proved to be impossible - there is an option to manage your booking on the website but, bizarrely, this does not allow you to change the time slot or even cancel the booking and rebook. The chatbot was similarly unhelpful. There was a number you could call but, unbelievably for an "international" airport, the line is not actively manned on Sundays (and perhaps not even Saturdays - I can't remember). So you have to leave a voicemail, which is of no use if you are trying to change a booking on the day. For a moment I thought I was back in the 1980s.
So, I was unable to even cancel my booking and therefore paid for a timeslot I was unable to use. I can only assume, given the above is so basic from a customer service point of view, that it is a deliberate choice on the part of Edinburgh Airport to make this difficult / impossible.
Unfortunately, if you want to park at the airport you have no real choice but to use this service. I have been using Edinburgh Airport for many years for both business and personal travel, during which time the cost of parking has steadily risen. That's fine if the extra money is being used to improve the service, with enough left over for an acceptable return on capital. There have been some good improvements, most notably in the multi-storey carpark, however it is somewhat grating that money has been spent on unnecessary valet parking facilities when the online user interface, as described above, is so inadequate. It is very easy to book parking online using the website but a completely different experience if you need to change anything.”
“Parking was good close to airport, however being charged an extra £18 on leaving due to our flight being delayed by 2 hours and waiting in baggage reclaim 2 hours for our bags at no fault of our own was a bit disappointing.”
