I have travelled all over Europe, Middle East and Asia, Edinburgh Airport security system is by far the poorest I have experienced. Even using (so called) Fast Track, should be renamed. Last time through "Fast track" I was asked to stand back to allow people with security tags through first as they were carrying cakes etc.

Everything excellent until we tried to leave and the machine at gate told us we owed £265 Embarrassing as we had prepaid. Staff on duty let us out but why did it happen ???

I love Edinburgh airport, we are lucky that we live in between Glasgow and Edinburgh so can choose, but I was really disappointed that on a recent return from Newark, it took more than firty minutes for the baggage carousel to begin and the luggage to come through- poor show! And no staff anywhere to ask what was going on!!

Simple to book. Easy access in and out. I pay for fast track for access to fast track level and security but this level is always full anyone can park here and use access bridge. Glasgow is much better with separate entrance and exit barrier which can only be accessed by people who have prepaid for fastrack

A bit too pricey and despite paying in advance on line I was asked to pay £360 at the barrier on leaving! It was sorted out but not ideal.

Having pre-booked for 5 days, on leaving the parking I was asked for £120!! Managed to get this resolved within about 5 minutes, but a delay that I could have done without at 11.00pm. Otherwise fine - buses are frequent and price, if booked in advance, isn't unreasonable for longer stays. 1 or 2 day stays are pricey, presumably because its mainly for business travelers.

Game of 2 halves using your car park. Easy to book online and good bargains available. The last 4 times (all in last few months) I have gone to leave it's asked for £75, £90 even though I am pre-paid. Twice I managed to get someone on the call button and thankfully had my booking ref no and I was allowed to exit. Twice I have had to pay. Claiming back is then a pain. In fact the other week I lost faith in booking in advance I didn't book online and the charge was more than double. I'm losing faith. Only last night having booked the mid stay car park for £39.99 online, it then said there was £90 to pay on exit. A few weeks ago having bought a ticket online from r £34.99 we found there was a charge of £42 when we left.

I parked in the long stay car park for two months whilst on holiday in New Zealand. I had no trouble finding a space to park and using the shuttle bus to get to the terminal building. On my return, I thought that the signage to the shuttle bus park could have been clearer but I was very tired because the very long flight had been made even longer due to a technical problem with the plane which involved an eight hour delay and required an overnight stay at London (no onward connecting flight was available by the time we got to Heathrow). I had difficulty finding my car although I thought I'd taken careful note of where it was (there are an awful lot of cars in the carpark!) but the Park cannot be blamed for this. However, when I came to leave, I had to pay an extra £32 because I had overstayed in the park due to the delay. I expected to have to pay something but £32 is a considerable portion of the charge for 60 days that I originally paid - I'd have been better booking for longer than I needed in the first instance just in case ......... I think it's a bit steep and am now waiting to see what my travel insurers say.

Number plate recognition for pre-booked parking in long stay did not work so had to call for help when trying to exit the car park which was inconvenient. Parts of the long stay car park are very muddy and wet which is average. Would be good if there was a system to show when the bus was due to arrive. Bus drivers are very cheery and professional which is always great first thing in the morning or very late at night.

The documentation that you get with your order could be clearer. There are several surface car park entries, and the documents state that as your drive up your car registration will be recognised and the barrier will open - this didn't work for us, so we tried another barrier still nothing. We contacted the help desk (via intercom) who answered very quickly and told us to take the ticket that had automatically been issued at the barrier and if there were any problems on exit to have our booking number to hand. Of course, there was a problem at exit - the car registration was not recognised, nor was the ticket that had been issued on entry. Again we had to contact the help desk, who again were very helpful and quickly resolved the issue, but this shouldn't have been necessary. Suggestions - make clearer description or map of available entry points; give clear advice on what to do if the barrier doesn't open,;improve number plate recognition; give the help desk operators a medal - they must get completely fed up of answering the same problems if our experience is anything to go by.

The parking at Edi is great - but only when the car registration cameras work! Parked twice this week for a trip to London and then to Dublin and both times the camera didn't recognise the car reg (& the pre-payment). The guys who open the gates are always good and quick but scrabbling around for the payment number / finding your glasses to read it... ;) could be avoided!

The car park I had reserved and paid for a space in was closed so had to park in overflow. Entry did not read my reg number so on exit was barred from leaving and had to use the button to call the man at the end of the line to let me out after giving him my booking number. This is not the first time this has happened at Edinburgh.

I would be more happy if, as a regular customer I could register my details and buy my parking with ease. As it is, every time, I must put in all my details and my credit card details. This is unnecessary and time wasting.

Standards have dropped...very impersonal valet parking service. Upon arrival and return attendant was sitting in booth apparently completely unmoved by my arrival. Upon exiting, and despite paying in advance I was charged £3.80 which prompted me to press the button for assistance. It was almost impossible to make out what the gentlemen at the other end was saying and I guess through frustration he opened the barrier.

We chose this one because although the cost wasn't the cheapest it was still reasonable, we could prepay, it seemed close enough and there was a good map and a set of instructions. On the day these proved a bit confusing as they mentioned not turning in too soon after a roundabout as we could end up in another car park. But this was just confusing as it IS the first car park after the roundabout. I had to drive in and press the button to make sure I was in the right place. Once in we parked ok and noted our bay. The sign to the bus shelter could have been bigger as we and others were a bit unclear as to where we were heading. On our return to the car park I put the ticket in and the machine asked us for £32 for under four hours of parking. Again I had to press the button. The operator asked if I had a reference number. I said it was in my jacket on the back seat. He then asked for my reg number and on giving this I was allowed to exit. There was no apology or explanation. Poor show. I would use again as I know the system but they need to get their act together as there is so much competition

Very frustrating as the entry camera hardly ever reads my number plate correctly. My number plate is clean and clear. It often reads a V instead of a Y, so it doesn't automatically give me a ticket when I enter the carpark, and so asks me for money when I try to leave. The person on the income is usually OK when I give my reference number which I have to remember to enter into my phone so that I am ready to read it out when trying to leave.

Security has improved of late and I don't dread my visit to the Airport as much as I did a year ago. No real queues on my last 3 visits although Its still a pain if they insist you use 2 trays as they then come through at different times and you've got to fight your way from the re-packing area back to the conveyor (and you cant carry 2 trays at same time....) You cant avoid the duty free area as you are snaked into departures and this can be a bit of a bottle neck, especially if they are doing sales promotions. ...I know it increases revenue but they have changed the airport into a shopping mall. Its only a small gripe but still annoying tripping over peoples little trolleys blocking the path. Toilet cleanliness is not the best. In my last visit, I needed to try 3 soap dispensers before I got any soap and 2 taps before I got any water. it was a mild surprise that the hand-dryer worked (gate 18) One really commendable point was on late flight back you get bussed to terminal. often they still insist on taking you to gate 18 (or similar) at 22.45 and you then have a long walk to get out of terminal. This last time, the bus took us to the baggage arrivals hall on the ground floor (like in the old days) and this is much better. Hope they do this all the time now?
